About the Photographer
Karen Yoder
I have been enjoying the art of photography for nearly 17 years, now. I was inspired to jump into photography when I got my first digital camera, back in 2000. My first subjects were, of course, my kiddos. I got frustrated with the cost of school pictures, just to have a large package of portraits with my kids eyes closed or half of their face not make it into the picture. Then, it was the tiresome hassle to get my money back.
Like most times, it is with those frustrations that you get inspired. Since then, I have gone so far, as to venture out on a cold Winter day, just to get a shot of a fresh snowfall...which is saying a lot, considering I hate being cold. I've also been known to get honked at, for standing too close to a country road, just so I can get the best angle on a nature shot. There are not many things that I don't enjoy photographing. I guess taking pictures, for me, is like shopping is for others. I find myself doing a photo shoot and thinking...Oh! That would be pretty! or Wait! Let's try something over here.
And then there is photo editing. Oh my! How time can fly when I am editing photos. It's hard to say which one I enjoy more, photography or editing. I grew up watching my dad "Photoshop" pictures by hand, over a light table. I always found it fascinating. Now, with the computer age, it is much easier. I love a good editing challenge, whether for a fun prank, a good laugh or a chance to repair a treasured picture.
So, here I am....many years after getting my first digital camera. I have moved on to a bigger and better camera, I moved from my small town in Northeastern Ohio to Columbus Ohio and my kids are all grown up. It's time to strap on my camera and take this to a new level.
I would love the opportunity to go on a photographic "shopping" trip with you and I promise, I will not be satisfied until you have portraits you can be proud of.
